East Plant Expansion Adds Capabilities
Almond Products has just completed an expansion of a 65,000 square foot state-of-the-art coatings facility. This new facility brings total production space to approximately 120,000 square feet. This new expansion is projected to add 30 jobs over the next two years.
Brian Hoeker, Sales Manager, noted that Almond Products has seen an increase in sales of more than 60% over the past three years. “We have seen significant growth over the past three years, and expanding our facility and offerings will help position our company for even greater success in the future”, Hoeker said. “In addition to increasing our capabilities, the expansion will allow us to better compete in the finishing market. With freight costs continually rising, customers want to minimize their supply base and are looking for one shop that can provide multiple services.”

Almond Products serves a variety of industries such as appliance, automotive, military, office furniture and telecommunications. To address customer demands, the company had to find a location to expand. After careful review and consideration, Almond Products purchased land adjoining their current property. The new location allowed the metal finisher to offer more capabilities to its customers, including electro-deposition coating (e-coat). “We had customers urging us to add e-coat to our extensive line of coating capabilities. An increase in military finishing caused the initial need to expand so we took the opportunity to add the e-coat process”, Hoeker said.
“We are looking to grow our powder coat business through the e-coat capabilities”, say Joy Ponce. “We built Class A capabilities into the electro-coat line because we want to be able to top coat over it.” “We will also have TACOM (Tank- Automotive and Armaments Command) certify our e-coat and powder coat lines in an effort to increase our capabilities to the military market.
In addition, Almond Products has invested in new, highly advanced powder coating and anodize coating systems. The 1,000-foot continuous conveyor powder coat system has a large window opening and will accommodate parts up to 10 feet long. This new line will provide a high quality, Class A finish. With a quick-change color system they will be able to change colors in seconds. “Our new quick-change color system coupled with a high quality finish, will allow us to expand into other markets, including office furniture”, says Hoeker. The anodize line will allow them to offer multiple colors. The large tank sizes will accommodate parts up to 23” wide by 50” deep by 120” long.
